Shadowlands – Aldwych Theatre, London

Don’t miss the powerful and moving play Shadowlands, now playing at the Aldwych Theatre and starring Hugh Bonneville, best known for his roles in Downton Abbey and the Paddington films.

Written by William Nicholson and based on a true story, Shadowlands tells the remarkable and deeply emotional story of C.S. Lewis, the Oxford professor and author of The Chronicles of Narnia. When Lewis unexpectedly falls in love with the vibrant American writer Joy Davidman, his carefully ordered life is transformed. But just as he discovers the joy of love, he is faced with the pain of devastating loss.
Originally adapted from Nicholson’s BAFTA Award-winning television film, Shadowlands went on to become a major West End success, winning the Evening Standard Award for Best Play and later transferring to Broadway where it received a Tony Award.
