Detailed Description

HIC-Vac Annual Meeting 2022 – Human Infection Challenge in the Pandemic Era and Beyond

The HIC-Vac Annual Meeting 2022 will take place at De Vere Horsley Estate in Leatherhead, UK (www.devere.co.uk/horsley-estate) on 3rd and 4th of November.

After the successful hybrid meeting in 2021, this year’s annual meeting will also be a hybrid one. This means you are welcome to join us free of charge virtually. You will be able to listen to the talks live and join in the Q&A sessions. Because there will be a virtual option, we will not be providing any travel awards.

The full meeting programme will be shared nearer the time, but some of the confirmed speakers are shown below. Many more will be revealed with the full programme!

Keynote speaker: Prof Kawsar Talaat (Associate Professor, Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, USA)

Parasite challenge: Dr Florence Milando (Ifakara Health Institute, Tanzania), Sara Silk (University of Oxford, UK)

Streptococcal challenge: Prof Stephen Gordon (Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, UK), Dr Yara Abo (Royal Children’s Hospital, Australia)

Respiratory challenge: Prof Helen McShane (University of Oxford, UK), Dr Ryan Thwaites (Imperial College London, UK)

Schistosome challenge: Emmanuella Driciru (MRC/UVRI-LSHTM Uganda Research Unit, Uganda), Jan Pieter Koopman (Leiden University Medical Centre, Netherlands)

Other sessions: Public engagement; Industry perspective; Role of human challenge in pandemic response and preparedness; Q&A with challenge study volunteers

Fees

There will be a small charge of £10 to attend the meeting in person. Please only purchase a ticket if you wish to be present in person at the conference; there is no charge for joining virtually.

If COVID-19 restrictions change and the meeting cannot take place, tickets are refundable.

The meeting is open to all HIC-Vac Network Investigators, Associates and Affiliates, but you must be a HIC-Vac member to attend.

Membership is free – if you are not yet a member, you can join here: www.hic-vac.org/members/become-a-member.
